This makes sense to me. I’ve tried several Windows computers that featured a touchscreen, and I’ll admit that it was occasionally nice to have—especially while scrolling. But there were also small annoyances. Most UI elements are too small to accurately touch while in desktop mode, and switching to tablet mode is never quite as fluid as it should be. And even the need for two separate “modes” is pretty confusing.

It’s a compromise. A compromise that adds some cool features, sure, but one that drains the battery, makes the screen thicker, and leaves the user experience kid of messy. In other words, exactly the kind of compromise Apple doesn’t like to make.
